Just before summer, NUPI appointed two new research directors: Kristin Haugevik and Halvard Leira.

Both are research professors, have a long track record at the institute, and wide experience in various forms of research, acquisition and publication.

– I am thrilled to welcome Kristin and Halvard to the leadership team, and I am confident that they will thrive in their new roles. They will be specifically focused on enhancing our research portfolio, highlights Kari M. Osland, director of NUPI.

The research directors will continue to maintain a research portfolio of their own, and both Haugevik and Leira appreciate the opportunity to combine the roles of research director and research professor. They are excited to contribute to the further development of NUPI and are already deeply engaged in ongoing and new initiatives.

– NUPI is a high-quality research institution with dedicated and talented staff. We look forward to helping strengthen internal competencies further, to continue exploring funding opportunities and publication records as well as maintaining NUPIs high visibility in the public debate. In doing so, we aim to develop national and international partnerships and networks even further, states Haugevik and Leira.

Haugevik and Leira are taking over the position after Ole Jacob Sending, who has been research director at NUPI for over a decade.

– Our new research directors are building on the work of Ole Jacob. He has been a part of NUPI’s leadership for nearly 12 years and has made significant contributions to the institute, for which I am very grateful, adds Osland.
