USA after the election: Consequences for the Nordics and the geopolitical landscape
The U.S. has elected a new president. Will changing priorities in Washington lead to closer cooperation or greater distance in the Nordic capitals? Will the countries need to prepare for more responsibility for their own security, and how can they collaborate across borders in the region? How might a potential shift in the U.S. approach affect the Nordic countries' ability to promote their views on a global stage?
On November 14, researchers from five leading foreign policy institutes in the Nordic region will gather to analyze the consequences of the recent U.S. election. The outcome could affect the Nordic region's role and freedom of action in a world marked by increased great power rivalry, economic uncertainty, and the need for global solutions to collective challenges.
Some of the Nordic region's leading experts on security and foreign policy will assess how the new administration may impact the geopolitical landscape, not only in the relationship between the U.S. and Europe but also for Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, and for the Nordic region as a whole.
The event is organized by the Norwegian Centre for Geopolitics and streamed live on NUPI's Youtube channel.
