A NEW EUROPE: WILL NORWAY BE LEFT OUT?
Europe is threatened from many sides, but is also undergoing a renewal to survive in a chaotic world. What will Norway's role in this new Europe be? Can we be left behind and outside the emerging Europe? In the first hour of this broadcast, we are looking into a new European solidarity and sovereignty, and we will discuss what a new President of the United States may have to say for transatlantic relations. Will Joe Biden be able to get the halting relationship between Europe and North America back on track? We also ask why we separate domestic and foreign policy.

NORWAY IN THE SECURITY COUNCIL: A CATWALK FOR INTERNATIONAL POLITICS?
Many cheered when the Norwegian election campaign at the UN gave Norway a seat on the Security Council. In January, it's our turn – for the fifth time – to take a seat around the horseshoe table in the UN building. But what exactly is our aim? Why did the government campaign so hard to get that seat? Are we merely seeking attention on the international stage or do we actually plan to get something done? We also explore what would happen if the veto powers in the Security Council were deprived of the right of veto? All these questions are answered by NUPI researchers Kari Osland and Niels Nagelhus Schia, and journalist and author Tove Gravdal. Ann-Kristin Kvilekval from the Norwegian Police Academy also joins, sharing her experiences from being on UN missions alone in the jungle in a country she did not know. She will also explain why it is so important that women are part of UN peace operations.

THE WORLD AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE: WHAT NOW?
Why is climate policy so vulnerable to changes in politics and presidents? How ambitious is the new president of the United States, Joe Biden's green plan? And what will it take for him to succeed? In this broadcast, we first look into climate policy and the United States with the help of NUPI researcher Guri Bang. We also talk to NORCAP Director Benedicte Giæver, who explains what specific measures are essential for farmers and others living in the exposed Sahel belt in Africa to be able to meet the consequences of climate change. MIDDLE EAST AND ARAB SPRING
It is now ten years since Tunisian vegetable trader Mohammed Bouazizi set himself on fire and died in protest against the government. Many recognized bouazizi's life situation, and eventually the uprising spread across borders and across the Middle East. But ten years after the Arab Spring, it is clear that far from all the dreams that drove it have been fulfilled. We speak to someone who grew up in Syria about the motivations behind the demonstrations, with Sidsel Wold standing in the midst of the hopeful and bloody protests, and two of Norway's foremost Middle East scholars. They paint a picture of what the Middle East was before and what it looks like today, before trying to look into the future: Will there be a new spring in the Middle East?
