How should the EU navigate multilateral cooperation?
Summary
This special episode of The World Stage is the first of a series that will give insight to the research from the NUPI-led research project The EU Navigating Multilateral Cooperation (NAVIGATOR) which aims to analyse how global cooperation is changing in the face of increasing complexity and geopolitical shifts. The project, led by Research Professor John Karlsrud, seeks to understand the various forms of cooperation emerging in different policy areas, including climate change, finance, and security, and to assess their effectiveness and legitimacy.
Navigator will involve a diverse team of researchers and will produce publicly accessible findings, with the goal of informing policymakers and promoting informed dialogue on the future of global governance.
In this episode John Karlsrud (NUPI) discusses the research agenda and how it will explore the ways in which the EU should navigate multilateral corporations. After presenting himself, the international team involved as well as the project's genesis, Karlsrud details the central research questions, the empirical focus and his ambitions for NAVIGATOR over the next two years.
This episode is co-published with Université Libre de Bruxelles, one of the partners in the project. Host is Alix Bullman, NAVIGATOR’s communication officer.
