The Impact of the US Presidential Election on European Security
The next US presidential administration will have a significant impact on NATO, support for Ukraine and broader European security matters. As the presidential transition gets underway, our event will consider both the immediate and long-term potential impacts on European security, including:
- What approach is the new US administration likely to take on European security?
- How might US support for Ukraine be affected once the new administration takes office?
- What is the emerging view in Europe on the outcome of the US presidential election and its impact on European security?
- Where should Europeans focus their efforts on defence and security cooperation? Which formats should they do this in?
- What should Europe offer to the US as the new administration defines its national security priorities?
The panelists include:
- Oana Lungescu, Distinguished Fellow, RUSI
- Jim Townsend, Senior Associate Fellow, RUSI
- Max Bergmann, Director, Europe Program, CSIS
- Mariia Zolkina, Head of Regional Security and Conflict Studies
- Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation (DIF)
Moderated by Ed Arnold, Senior Research Fellow for European Security, RUSI.
