In this talk Dr. Mai'a K. Davis Cross will explain what happens behind the scenes, in the corridors of Brussels institutions, to determine the future of security and defense policy for the EU. Based on nearly 80 interviews of high-level experts and decision-makers, Dr. Cross argues that certain under-recognized networks of military and crisis management experts are central to determining the EU’s security role on the world stage. She will also discuss how the Eurozone crisis has influenced the EU’s trajectory in this area, and suggest policy for tackling the challenges ahead.
