The seminar will focus on the challenges facing UNMISS with the implementation of the South Sudan peace agreement, with a special emphasis on the insights we can draw from the UN High-level Independent Panel on Peace Operations.

10:00-10:40 Introduction 1: “Overview and analysis of the new peace agreement and its implementation challenges” - Jens-Petter Kjemprud, Norwegian Special envoy for Sudan and South Sudan (20 min presentation and 20 min Q&A)

10:40-12:20 Introduction 2: "The High Level Panel on Peace Operations (HIPPO) - Recommendations and Implications for South Sudan” - Hilde F. Johnson, former SRSG for South Sudan and member of the HIPPO (20 min presentation and 20 min Q&A)

12:20-12:30 - Coffee/Tea break

12:30-13:30 Panel session: Morris Batali, Charge ´d Affiares, Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan, Peter Natana (Former Aide to former South Sudan Minister of Peace and South Sudan Chief Negotiator), Liv Tørres (Norwegian People’s Aid), and Øystein Rolandsen (PRIO) (7 min presentations each followed by 30 min Q&A).
